Reaction Rate

Calculate normalized average reaction rate from concentration change and time.

How this calculator works

Enter concentration change (mol/l), elapsed time (s), stoichiometric coefficient. CalcStack applies the displayed formula and reports each intermediate planning value with the units shown.

Formula / method

Rate = concentration change ÷ (coefficient × elapsed time)

Worked example

A 0.24 M change over 120 s for coefficient 2 gives 0.001 M/s.

Assumptions and limitations

The entered concentration change is measured over the stated interval.

Average rate hides changing instantaneous rate and assumes the balanced coefficient is correct.
