Formula / method
Storage = rows/day × bytes/row × retention days × (1 + index overhead)
Worked example
500,000 daily 1,200-byte rows with 35% indexes over a year need about 295.65 GB.
Assumptions and limitations
Rows, byte size and index overhead stay constant over the retention period.
Compression, deletes, partitions, replicas, WAL, backups and variable record sizes are excluded.
