Compound Probability

Calculate intersection and union probabilities for independent events.

How this calculator works

Enter probability a (%), probability b (%), independent events (1=yes). CalcStack applies the displayed formula and reports each intermediate planning value with the units shown.

Formula / method

For independent events: P(A∩B)=P(A)P(B); P(A∪B)=P(A)+P(B)−P(A)P(B)

Worked example

Events with 60% and 40% probabilities have 24% intersection and 76% union probability.

Assumptions and limitations

Events are independent when the independent setting is 1.

Dependent events require conditional probability; this calculator cannot infer dependence.
